The foundation promotes projects with an emphasis on underprivileged children and adolescents.  The programs focus mainly on education and vocational training. From the support of the first child in 1988 up to the present, the foundation has developed into a globally operating organisation.

The first meeting centre of the foundation created in Canada by Patrick and Maureen Doherty is approx. 50 km from Calgary on a ranch in Bragg Creek at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. On a several hundred hectares sized terrain with 3 lakes, they established a suitable living environment for children and youngsters. Here, 25,000 visitors yearly participate in one of the numerous programs offered.

All the foundation’s projects aim to offer “help for self-help” and constitute a sustainable aid for developing better living circumstances. Beside the existing project, the foundation plans the future opening of further ranches in Arizona, USA and Ontario, Canada.
