Karl Benno Nagy receives the 2015 Scope Award for the “Walton Infrastructure Funds”

For the 10th time, the Scope Awards for the best Open Real Estate Funds and the best alternative investments were awarded on November 5 in Frankfurt. Walton was among the 14 winners. Karl Benno Nagy, President of Walton Europe accepted the award for outstanding management in the “Closed End Funds” category.

The Scope Awards are regarded as the “Oscars” for the investment industry. They are awarded by Scope Ratings, an independent rating agency founded in 2002 and based in Berlin. The agency analyses and rates financial institutions and companies, as well as structured finance products and alternative investment funds.

Since 2005, Scope Ratings yearly honours special achievements in the investment industry . Three companies are nominated in each of 14 categories. An independent jury chooses a winner, that in the past year excelled in the relevant aspects.

This year, the jury was made up of four experts, not only Scope staff members. Chief Analyst Dr Stefan Bund deliberated with three representatives, one each from the academic community, the trade press and practice. Supported by the expertise of Prof Wolfgang Härdle from the Humboldt University in Berlin, Bernd Mikosch, Editor-in-Chief of “Fonds professionell”, as well as Ulrich KIssing, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Hypo Group Alpe Adria AG, the jury was able to come to a well-balanced and objective judgement.

Walton was nominated in the “Closed End Funds - Infrastructure - Global” category and prevailed over Buss Capital and the Deutsche Finance Group. Walton´s innovative research gave it clear competitive advantages. These, among others, impacted the expansion of land development in the U.S. investment market. Furthermore, the jury hailed the fruitful cooperation with renowned co-investors, as well as the high diversity in choosing the properties. These and other factors minimalised risks and ensured an extraordinary successful track record.

By the way, this was not the first nomination for the land development giant. In 2013, Walton was nominated for the award in Real Estate Development.
